CATEGORIES OF THE 2016 CENTRAL MUSIC AWARDS


1.      Artiste of the Year

The Artiste of the Year is the Artiste adjudged by the Board and the General Public as the Artiste with the highest audience appeal and popularity. The Artiste must have released a hit single or two during the year under review. Artiste must have also released one quality music video on national television.
 

2.      Song of the year

The song should be the overall best song of the year under review. The Song of the Year is the song adjudged by the Board and the General Public as the most popular song released in the year under review. Must be free from vulgarity and should have topped some of the local radio chart shows for several months.

3.      Best vocalist of the year

The Best Vocal Artiste is adjudged by the Public and Board as the artiste with the best vocal delivery/Performance on any musical presentation which was released during the year under review.
 4.      Best collaboration
The Best Collaboration of the year is the song adjudged by the Board and the Public as the song released through the featuring of two or more Artistes. The song must have been released during the year under review.

 5.      New artiste of the year

The New Artiste of the Year is the Artiste adjudged by the Board and the General Public as the most promising artiste. The award goes to a new artiste who released a song or two that shot him/her into the public limelight during the year under review.
 

6.      Highlife song of the year

The Highlife song of the Year is the song adjudged by the Board and the General Public as the most popular Highlife song released during the year under review.
 

7.      Gospel song of the year

Thy word, my song, my salvation; The Gospel Song of the Year is the song adjudged by the Board and the General Public as the most popular Gospel Song released during the year under review with excellent sound quality.

8.      Reggae / Dance hall song of the year

The Reggae song of the Year is the song adjudged by the Board and the Public as the most popular Reggae song released during the year under review with positive vibration.

9.      Best rapper of the year

Artiste should have released a song or two with electrifying punch lines and rhymes during the year under review. The Best Rapper of the year is also adjudged by the Board and the General Public.

10.  Sound engineer of the year

The Sound Engineer of the Year award is adjudged by the Board and the Public to be the Sound Engineer responsible for recording and mastering most of the popular songs during the year under review.

11.  Most popular Ghanaian song of the year

The Most Popular Ghanaian Song of the Year is the song adjudged by the General Public as the most popular Non-Central Region song released during the year under review.

12.  Best music video of the year

The Music Video of the year is adjudged by the Board and the General Public as the most creative music video produced during the year under review. The award goes to the Artiste.

13.  Best promoting Central Music DJ

A radio DJ, mobile DJ, or night club DJ adjudged by the Board and the General Public for consistently promoting music of artistes from the Central Region during the year under review.

14.  Life time achievement awards

The Lifetime Achievement Award is adjudged by the Board and in consultation with Musigha Central region  as a Living Legend of Central Music whose works must have spanned generations.

15.  Hip life

The Hiplife Song of the Year is the song adjudged by the Board and the General Public as the most popular Hiplife song released during the year under review. The song must have generated the most excitement during the year.

16.  Hip-gospel song of the year

The Hip-gospel Song of the Year is the song adjudged by the Board and the General Public as the most popular Hip-gospel song released during the year under review. Content of the song should solely be Gospel.
